Last week I introduced you to my 2016 Length Retention challenge and promised to share the regimen I am following during these first 3 months of the year. Well, here it is complete with products.
A quarter is 3 months but I tend to follow a month long regimen so I will describe what I do in a typical month and all you need to do if you want to join in is repeat this cycle every month.
Week 1
I wash my hair with African Black Soap Shampoo. Recipes for African Black Soap Shampoo are available here or from our recipe cards. I seal my hair with Shea Butter or Mafura. Shea keeps it soft and Mafura provides that shine.
During the week I will spritz my hair, apply leave in and seal with Mongongo Oil. I do this at least 3 times during the week and use Mongongo because it is lighter than Shea or Mafura. Try moisturising 3 times a week and if your hair still feels dry then increase the frequency. Here are some great recipes for spritzes. I’m still on the hunt for the ultimate leave in conditioner but here are some recipes that you can try.
Week 2
I wash my hair with Chiswita. Chiswita doubles as a cleanser and conditioning treatment. Keep following the blog for more about Chiswita, what it is and how best to use it. I apply the Chiswita, leave it on for half an hour and rinse before applying my leave in conditioner and sealing my damp hair with Shea Butter or Mafura.
Once again I spritz and seal with Mongongo at least 3 times a week.
Week 3
Repeat Week 1
Week 4
By week 4 I need a good protein treatment. Here are some great recipes for you to try. Once every 2 months I will use Henna to strengthen my hair, the process for that requires a whole blog post so keep your eyes peeled if you’d like to try my method.
You know the drill by now. Spritz, leave in and seal with Mongongo at least 3 times during the week.
Thats it! Really simple! If you’d like to follow this regimen you can get all the products and recipe cards through http://www.shopzed.com . Our products are also available from Jubilee Chemist branches in Lusaka, Umoyo Natural Health Stores also in Lusaka, DC Cosmetics at Copperhill Mall in Kitwe and Stubbs Chemist in Chingola.
Mwanabibi, I like the list of products, I have 2 questions: a) does ZedHair sell Chiswita now or do you still only distribute at events or workshops? b) are you going to share how you style your hair during the length challenge or shall we just assume you’ll be using the protective styles that you went through last year?
