The November 2013 workshop was all about products. The aim of the workshop was to help us all understand the various ingredients that go into hair products and enable us to make informed decisions. How to read and understand ingredient labels and manufacturers marketing and labelling tactics is an important skill we should all master. Choosing the right products for your hair type is not just about buying what is available or popular, but what works for your lifestyle and hair regimen and of course your budget.

The workshops are about asking questions, learning and consulting on all matters related to natural hair care, styling and maintenance
Given our location in Africa, it can sometimes be difficult to make sense of what is advised on American natural hair forums, which of course is the reason for this ‘by Africans for Africans’ blog. People came with products that we were able to analyse together to look at the combination of ingredients and pros and cons of certain products looking at what is available on the market. We also demonstrated simple recipes for shea butter mixes, deep conditioning mixes and spritzes. All of these recipes will be shared right here over the next few weeks as part of an upcoming series on developing a natural hair regimen that works for you.
As always, various natural hair books, products, tools and accessories were on sale.
Now before someone asks about how they can get invited to the next workshop, ZedHair has good news for you. Effective 2014, the natural hair workshops are now open to the general public on a first come, first served basis. Follow us on Facebook for quick updates or sign up to receive email notifications every time we have a new post up here on the blog.

The workshops are a good opportunity to stock up on natural hair supplies (books, products, tools and accessories)
