Today’s RTP style took absolutely ages because I couldn’t get the top right as I wanted it to meet with the bun. This was frustrating me until I finally realised that it was because the last time I did this style (about a week earlier), it was before I decided to cut off FOUR inches of hair. In short, my hair just wasn’t long enough anymore. *sad face*
So before someone asks what RTP is, it simply means Roll, Tuck & Pin. I got one of my friends at the gym to do the parting for me at the back so that it made a u-shape. I secured the back in a ponytail and tucked the hair under itself in a sort of bun. When it wouldn’t hold, I separated it into two twists and then tucked those around and secured with a pin. The rest was a nightmare as I needed to make sure the top covered the whole crown of my head. The blow dried hair (which was irritating me because it doesn’t hold styles well), was just not behaving. In the end I separated it into about 7 sections and just rolled, pulled, tucked and pinned into place to look like a complicated maze of hair. However, because the hair is straighter than normal, you don’t get the full effect of the definition, especially on top. Arrggghhhh! I used 6 bobby pins for this style.
Naturals, this is the reality of life. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Life is beautiful like that. And FYI, the RTP is the saviour of bad hair days and failed hairstyles.
