I tried this, just to see what all the fuss was about. I had used the Kinky Curly Knot Today leave-in on it’s own about three or four times and I have to say that it really worked for me. My hair was amazingly soft. But, using the conditioner on its own is expensive, considering how far I had to travel to buy just one bottle. So, the idea of finally getting round to trying KimmayTube’s famous leave-in conditioner recipe (utilising Kinky Curly Knot Today) made sense to me as it would stretch my bottle of KCKT a little longer.
The recipe was fun to make. I had gotten togather with a friend who is an avid Kimmaytube follower and it was exciting to mix it all up. Unfortunately, I had my hair tied up in a dukhu for most of the week following, so it is hard to say if it really worked.
I would recommend this to those who are used to leave-in conditioner in their hair regimens. This is not something that I have ever used before and I don’t see myself changing. I think it is the whole, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it thing.
This is a good video as Kimmaytube has taken down her version, most likley because I hear she is launching her own product range so doen’t want to promote other people’s products in her videos. I usually save YouTube videos that I like to my computer, so that I can watch them later. This is also because our bandwidth here is so unstable, it is difficult to predict when it will be able to stream YouTube videos. So, I have the original on a computer somewhere.
The recipe uses:
- 1oz Aloe Vera Juice
- Castor Oil
- Jojoba Oil (which I substituted with coconut oil since I could not find a local stockist)
- 1 oz (2 TB) Leave-in conditioner
is that 2 tablespoon of leave in conditioner

I've been using this recipe faithfully for the last year. Unfortunately, I find it leaves my hair quite dry. I even bought the overpriced Knot Today leave on conditioner and it still left my hair dry. I'm remixing Kimmaytubes recipe by adding coconut oil – I tried it last night and my hair already feels more moisturized. I also don't plan on repurchasing Knot Today, I'll use S-curl curl activator instead.
